Premiered: April 2023 in the Estonian Drama theatre.
One day a pleasant stranger enters the peaceful, idyllic lives of a well-to-do bourgeois family. He develops intimate relationships with all the family members, which soon go beyond just friendships. The father, mother, son and daughter all sense that something important is changing in them. Birds are singing. Clothes are falling off. Factory workers are sleeping. And servants are fainting.
Juhan Ulfsak’s production of Theorem is based on Pier Paolo Pasolini’s poetic story Theorem (Teorema, 1968). Pasolini’s work about radical changes in man and society will be performed on an Estonian theatrical stage for the first time.
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.”
